After 8+ years as the lead Apple Certified Service Technician at MacSuperstore, I am now transitioning to the role of Product Quality Control Specialist here at iFixit. I'm excited to be here, and look forward to getting to know everyone!

A bit about my background: I was born and raised in Los Angeles, and moved up to the San Luis Obispo area in 2008. I began tinkering with Macs when I was about twelve years old after acquiring my father's Macintosh SE as a hand-me-down when he upgraded to the (color!) Macintosh LCII. I got into dial-up bulletin board systems (BBS) as a teenager and even hosted my own with two dialup lines and 28.8k modems. I started dabbling in web design in the late 90s with basic HTML and JavaScript, but have generally found myself more capable with hardware troubleshooting and repair. I've been repairing Apple Macintosh products professionally since 2000.

Aside from tech-y things, I'm a world traveler (on hiatus) and an aspiring cultural anthropologist. I embarked upon my first trip abroad when I was a teenager, and quickly became addicted to exploring other countries and cultures. I have since spent a combined five years backpacking, living and working abroad, over several journeys across Europe, Southeast Asia, India, and the Middle East. I lived in Syria for a few years before the on-going conflict unfolded there, teaching English and documenting the country's cultural and historic sites. I recently had a book published of my photography: Lens on Syria. I'll have a copy around if anyone is interested in checking it out. I also maintain a website dedicated to the subject.

Other stuff: I enjoy television that offers some sort of social or political commentary and I am a fan of shows like Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Louie, The Office, Arrested Development, and South Park. I grew up listening to 80s/90s punk rock, which has been highly influential in both my taste in music and my social and political views. I lean to the far left politically, follow politics fairly closely, and the focus of my interest is mostly on foreign policy and international relations. I’m vegetarian. I enjoy hiking, camping, and other outdoors-y things. I'm a baseball fan. (Go Dodgers!)

I live in Los Osos with my wife Rasha and our snobby cat, Giddens.
