Summer LookOut Duo Handheld is Squealing or Beeping

If your Summer Lookout Duo Baby Monitor 5" LCD display is making a high pitch squealing or beeping sound, follow this guide for solutions.

Causes

1

The Summer Lookout Duo handheld unit and cameras can create feedback when they are too close together. The handheld unit can pick up sound from cameras and send it back out, creating a loop of sound. Moving the handheld unit and the cameras further apart will stop the feedback and the squealing sound.

2

Feedback can also be created when the volume is too high. Using the navigation buttons, lower the volume on the handheld unit.

3

The device may need to be reset, or the battery may not be inserted correctly. Power off both the device handheld unit and the cameras. Remove the battery from the back of the handheld unit and re-insert it, then power on both devices.

4

The handheld unit may beep if there is no video displayed on the monitor. To fix this, turn on and connect one of the cameras.

5

The handheld unit will beep when the battery is low and needs to be charged. Plug in the handheld unit and let it charge for about seven hours. It is recommended to let the handheld unit charge overnight.

6

If the handheld unit is still producing unsavory sounds, check that other electronic devices are not interfering with the signal emitted from the handheld unit. Possible culprits could include:

  • Laptops (including tablets and phones)
  • Microwaves
  • Humidifiers
  • Shared electrical outlets (if charging)
  • Televisions
  • Automated vacuums
  • Radios

Check that these are either outside of the signal range for the handheld unit (approx. 1,000 ft.) or are powered off during handheld unit operation.
