Robot Vacuum Doesn’t Navigate Properly or Bumps Into Walls

Robot Vacuum Doesn’t Navigate Properly or Bumps Into Walls

Causes

1

These sensors detect collisions. Clean the area around the front bumper with a soft cloth and check whether it can move freely.

2

Dust on the IR sensors prevents obstacle detection. Wipe them carefully with a lint-free cloth. Don’t use water!

3

For models with LiDAR or a camera, cleanliness is essential. Carefully clean the lens or cover with a microfiber cloth. Fingerprints or scratches can interfere with navigation.

4

If you use virtual boundaries, check their position. Remove them temporarily to make sure they are not causing the problem.

5

Camera-based robots need light. Make sure there is enough lighting during cleaning, or enable “night mode” in the app.

6

Cliff sensors can react incorrectly on very dark or reflective floors. In most apps, you can adjust the sensitivity. Experiment with the settings.

7

If you have moved furniture, the saved map may no longer be accurate. Delete old maps and let the robot map the area again.

8

Software updates often include navigation improvements. Check regularly whether new updates are available.

9

If the bumper is broken or does not spring back, a more involved repair is needed, or the bumper must be replaced.
