Miadore Classic N64 Controller Won't Communicate With Device

If your Miadore Classic N64 Controller has trouble communicating with the console or computer, follow this troubleshooting page for advice.

Causes

1

Try a different port to see if the issue is the port itself. If you can use the port with a different controller that has a USB cable, it may be your cable is damaged and will need to be replaced. Before you do, review the other possibilities below.

2

Ensure the connection ports are clean and do not have any dust or debris.

Cleaning methods:

  • Use a dust blower to clear away any of the dust and debris from your console's connection ports.
  • Use a cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol to clean the port on your device and crevices and between the buttons of your controller, since the controller can get dirty and sticky and lose its performance and quality.
3

The Miadore Classic N64 Controller does not work with the ANDROID TV BOX, C64(Commodore 64), Google Chromebook, or Amazon Fire TV. It also won't work with online games.

  • Make sure that you are using a game emulator that it supports such as Project64, 1964, MAME (MESS), Mupen64Plus, Sixtyforce, CEN64. Historically, it supported Project Unreality, Corn, UltraHLE, or Nemu64.
  • It is a USB gamepad controller and compatible with devices that have a USB port, such as the Nintendo Switch ( work on the Switch in docked mode), PC , MAC, Raspberry Pi (Retro pie), or an Android Smartphone (connect via a USB OTG cable.)
4

This controller is plug and play but you can download a game emulator such as Project 64 for PC, OpenEmu Only support OS X, Retropie for raspberry Pi. This video explains how to do download the Project 64 emulator.

5

Start at System Settings and check that your device's drivers are up to date. If not, run an update.

6

If you've looked at all of the other possibilities and your controller is still not communicating with your device, you may need to replace the USB cord.
