If your Lenovo ThinkPad L460 powers on (indicator lights or fan noise present), but the screen remains black, this guide may have a solution.

Causes

1
  • Perform a power reset
    • Disconnect the AC Adapter and remove the battery.
    • Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to drain any residual power.
    • Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then power on.
2
  • Test with an external monitor
    • Connect the laptop to an external display via HDMI or VGA.
    • If you get output, your internal display or cable is likely the issue.
3
  • Adjust display settings
    • Press Fn + F7 to switch between display modes.
    • Press Fn + Home to increase brightness.
4
  • Inspect and reseat the display cable
    • Remove the keyboard and display bezel to access the LVDS/eDP cable.
    • Ensure it's securely connected to both the motherboard and LCD panel.
5
  • Replace the LCD Panel
    • Remove the bezel and disconnect the screen cable.
    • Install a new, compatible LCD panel and reassemble.
