Causes
Make sure the laptop's cooling fan vents on the bottom of the laptop are not obstructed by anything such as clothing or bedding. Place the laptop on a flat, hard surface that allows air to flow freely underneath. If you are using it on a soft surface, move it to a table or consider a laptop stand to improve airflow.
Over time, dust can build up and clog the cooling fan. Turn off your laptop and use a can of compressed air to blow air into the cooling vents on the bottom of the laptop. Make sure to the hold can upright to avoid liquid spraying. Repeat until dust is no longer coming out and the vents look clear.
Make sure you are on the most recent Windows software. A software update can be completed by clicking "Start" then "Settings" then "Windows Update" and make sure you download the most recent update. Make sure to not turn off or sign out of laptop while updates are running. When updates are complete restart the laptop. This will ensure better performance.
