My Problem

My trackpad had become extremely hard to click and took a lot of force to do any clicking. So, I decided to replace the pad and upgrade the RAM while I was inside the computer.

My Fix

The repair was simple and easy and took about 25 minutes to complete. I even did a lot of cleaning inside the computer while I had it open to remove dust and grime.

My Advice

The big ah-ha moment for me came when I installed the new trackpad and felt that great clicking sound again. It worked great until I reassembled the entire computer and found that the new trackpad wouldn't click either. After a few minutes of troubleshooting, I found that my battery had swollen and was pressing against the trackpad preventing it from clicking. I ordered a new battery and all is well. Bottom line, check your battery for swelling before you replace your trackpad.

My Problem

The trackpad would not klick anymore.

My Fix

Smooth! It took about 15 minutes, had no flaws, was easy...

My Advice

I would recommend magnetic screwdrivers since to me the most dangerous accident to me is loosing one of the tiny screws above the mainboard - risking that they find a place where they could damage something else.

My Problem

The Wii U stopped reading discs which frustrated my son.

He got a new Super Mario Galaxy game that he really wanted to play.

My Fix

The repair went smoothly. I walked through the guide and it only took about thirty minutes total. I removed the drive, cracked open the cover and found a penny. Removed the penny, reassembled the Wii U, and everything worked great!

My Advice

Don't let your kids put pennies in the Wii U disc drive. If they do, order the tool kit from iFixit and follow the guide so you can repair it yourself. You'll save the cost of a new Wii U and impress your kids!

My Problem

I don't speak english, but it's easy to understand the ifixit's guide. ;)

My Fix

Tempo 2 orette e seguendo la procedura ho smontato, sostituito la parte e rimontato il macbook. Tutto è andato per il meglio e grazie alla guida non ho sbagliato neanche una vite!

My Advice

My Problem

Battery was getting bad. Decided to change it and since the back was going to be open- why not add some ram.

My Fix

It went just as advertised in your tutorial.

My Advice

You guy safe awesome, can't think of anything to change.

My Problem

The glass surface of the trackpad on my 2008 unibody Macbook cracked.

My Fix

The repair went very smoothly, thanks to the clear instructions I found on ifixit.com. I also ordered tri-wing screwdrivers from their website (the higher-end versions).

My Advice

The tri-wing screwdrivers are very good quality, but I wish they were magnetic, so that the screws would stick to the screwdrivers' tips. Especially with the Y0 size screwdriver, the screws that it fits are very small and hard to position with just your fingers.

My Problem

With the small window of time I have had with my Music Degree, I had no way of taking care of the issue with my Nintendo Wii. Sometime last year I had left my Nintendo Wii with my mother and baby sister, who at the time was about 3 yrs. old. I left it in their care so that they could play all the games I had stored on the Wii. To my knowledge, my baby sister decided to shove "leaves" into the disk slot of my Wii. It seems as though she was still in the learning process of shapes and "what-does-not-fit" experimental stage. Since a week ago, I was unable to insert any disk games into my poor Wii.

My Fix

With the free time the summer gives us all, I finally looked into the issue. The Nintendo Wii required a specific tri-point screwdriver size and had saw great reviews on ifixit.com about tools that are affordable and dependable. Once the order came in, I found an easy-how-to video on Youtube.com to take the Wii apart to fix the problem. The issue was resolved in 20 minutes with the culprit at hand. Turns out that my sister had inserted a piece of foam into the disk drive where it sat between the disk slot and the disk reader of my Wii. Luckily, the console had a fail safe where nothing bigger than a disk can enter through the main "heart" of the machine. The "Tri-point Y0 Screwdriver" was worth the +/-$10.00's that had saved me about $50-$70's of my money.

My Advice

The "Tri-point Y0 Screwdriver" is worth the cost here at ifixit.com. You must be patient when working with delicate tools and you must take the time to understand the proper procedures when it comes to working with a complex machine. Any game console can seem complex but be sure you have a reliable source when fiddling with this kind of situation. This Tri-point Screw driver was very useful and very small so be sure not to chip or strip the pointed tip it was made with. Again, take your time and follow instructions to have a safe and successful operation where you save yourself the money you earn by being efficient with your materials. Thank you ifixit.com for being affordable and reliable.

My Problem

Kids dropped gamepad while playing and broke the left analog stick.

My Fix

The wii u gamepad tear down guide was very helpful. It was fast and smooth. We were back to playing nintendo in about a half hour.

My Advice

Take your time and make sure you put all the screws back in :p

My Problem

Trackpad's "clicker" button worked intermitently. Dragging-and-dropping had begun to feel mostly like just dropping.

My Fix

The tutorial was great, after reading it I felt confident enough to perform the task blindfolded. Loved all the pictures and markups. The repair went pretty smooth, though some of the suggested tools were wrongly sized. The Philips P00 that was recommended felt over-sized and I believe should have been a P000. I also felt the Y1 recommended was undersized and should have been a Y2.

My Advice

I got the economy drivers and was unimpressed. While they did work for the job I wouldn't want to use them again for fear of stripping screws. I used the "add tools to cart" feature and missed the premium option. Next time I will get the nicer versions.

My Problem

got mad, busted my pad, fixed it quick with the help of these sticks

My Fix

excellent! tutorials on this site are FANTASTIC!

My Advice

just use this site, its freakin spectacular
