Pretty much everything in the half-joking review sample text and then some, the things our clients do to machines never ceases to amaze me, from milk and coffee spills on Apple gear, to IBMs that have had something between display and keyboard in just the right spot to totally destroy the LCD and keyboard in one go.. Not to mention something that was literally thrown out a second-story window onto pavement.
So far the tools have held up nicely, we've had other kits for far longer but over time the bits were misplaced and disorganized by all the other technicians, so I just bought my own personal set and some other general things for the shop's tools.
If you think to yourself 'I'll never need 54 kinds of bit..' even in a small-volume shop, you'll find out quickly that most major manufacturers use a good mix of sizes on even just one machine. Get the big kit with 99.5% of the 'common' bits in it now and save having to explain to a client that their simple repair is delayed three days because you had to order a special screwdriver just to open the case.

My new $420 refurbished 2015 Mac Mini has security torx, so i couldn't replace the lazy HDD by an Intel 520 SSD... until i fixit !!
What is strange is that my friend Mac Mini, exactly the same, has no security torx but standard
not so difficult, i think less time than 2012 mac mini.
Very easy to upgrade to Full 2,5" SSD a 2015 Mac Mini, that become enough speedy for regular productivity work.

The Macbook Pro was working really slow. My first thought was a failing harddrive, so i took it out, at did a test, no error. Then i thought it might be that ribbon cable. Since i live far away, i wanted to order from ifkxit because of my previous success with them. It took only 6 days to receive the package ( which is pretty impressive by the way), and everything was of course in order :)
I replaced the part, and everything is working properly. The customer has paid, and we both are happy with the fix
If these Macbook Pro's are working really slowly, pay close attention to that ribbon cable. I have expeienced it quite often that the issue is with the cable and not the harddrive it self.

After many years of use, the dock connector on my iPhone 4s had become corroded and was causing problems with the phone such as poor charging and not being able to shut the phone down (it would just restart itself when you tried to power it off).
The repair went incredibly well. I've built and repaired computers for years but had never cracked a cell phone open until today.
First off, I absolutely love the Pro Tech Toolkit. When I first decided to do this fix myself, I debated on just buying the few tools I'd need for this specific repair or to get the Pro Tech Toolkit in anticipation of doing many more repairs in the future. I'm very glad I chose to get the Pro Tech Toolkit! It is compact but packed with just about everything I'll need in the future and the high quality of the Tool Roll and all the tools inside is obvious when you are holding and using them.
I received the Magnetic Project Mat as a Christmas present this year and it was integral to making my first repair successful by easily organizing and keeping the tiny screws and parts right where I put them. Being able to write right on the mat with the dry erase pen made keeping notes about specific parts a breeze.
1. Before you do anything, read through the walk-through for your specific repair. There are lots of little pieces of info that make the repair easier.
2. Set up your work area and pull out the tools you know you'll be using so they are at the ready.
3. Lighting - The screws and some of the parts you will be dealing with are TINY so having good lighting is paramount. The lighting in my office is okay, but I hooked up a flexible USB reading light to an external battery and it worked awesome! It was easy to move around and position where I needed it which really helped.
4. Time - Make sure to give yourself plenty of time to make the full repair with as little distractions as possible. This really helped me get through the repair faster.
A few notes about the walk-through.
STEP 3 - The suction cup in the Pro Tech Toolkit is very handy here.
STEP 6 - When you pry up the battery, the adhesive makes a really horrible sound and tries to trick you into thinking you're doing something wrong. It lies, just go slowly and you'll be fine.
STEP 9 - When you are re-assembling your 4S, it is a little tricky to get the dock cable socket to fit correctly when you are putting it back in. My extra light helped a lot here and I used the tweezers to gently position the cable so the socket was oriented correctly before pushing it down with my finger. It should make a soft little snap and it won't wiggle around at all when it's seated correctly.
STEP 12 & 13 - When unscrewing the left side screw for the speaker enclosure, the small black spacer from STEP 13 came up with the screw. Be careful when you are removing this screw so the spacer doesn't get lost.
STEP 14 - During re-assembly, don't forget to clean the metal-to-metal points as directed in the walk-through. You can get a small bottle 99% Isopropyl Alcohol at VONS or Safeway. It is recommended to use 99% Isopropyl Alcohol for sensitive electronics because evaporates very fast so the parts are completely dry before you finish the re-assembly. I used a Q-Tip to apply it and gently scrub the parts.
STEP 15 - I saved this little piece of tape but didn't end up needing it because my replacement part had a new piece right where it needed to be.
STEP 18 - During reassembly, getting the little rubber tube back inside the plastic part was a little tricky but using the tweezers from the Pro Tech Toolkit I was able to get it back in after a moment of fiddling with it.
STEP 20 - This little piece of rubber is VERY tiny. One of the sides is shinier than the other and that is the side with the adhesive on it so be sure to put that side down during re-assembly.
STEP 21 - As the TIP in the walk-through says, you will need to transfer the little rubber casing from your old part to the new part. Lay both parts side by side and examine where you're taking the rubber casing from so you'll know where it goes on the new part. As the walk-through mentions, you can use the fine tipped spudger to loosen the rubber casing from the old part before you transfer it to the new one.

Before you transfer the rubber casing to the new part, look carefully at the microphone nodule on the new part and you will see a clear protective film that sticks off the side of the nodule. The protective film can be easily removed with tweezers before you transfer the rubber casing.
There will be another piece of protective film on the section of the part that the microphone is connected to. Examine the rest of the new part and you will find several other pieces of protective film that you will need to remove as the re-assembly progresses. Some of the protective film covers adhesive that will keep the new part in the proper place when re-assembly is complete.

My daughter cracked her iPhone 5S screen while at college after only having the phone for about 5 months. I decided I would fix it myself while she was home for Christmas break. I also decided that while I was at it, I would fix her older iPhone 4S cracked screen and sell that phone to help pay for the parts for both phones.
The parts fit perfectly and were of great quality. I was very pleased. The repair guides were very informative. The magnetic mat was well worth the purchase. It made keeping screws organized a breeze. Sure wish I had it a long time ago for other repair projects. The only hitch in the repair was that my daughter failed to tell me the vibrator was bad in her 4S. I ordered a new iPhone vibrator from iFixit and after the second tear down of the 4S, every function is working perfectly. The iPhone 5S repair went perfectly and she is very happy to have her phone with a perfect display again. My worry level of her accidentally cracking her iPhone screen is over. I can relax and know if an unfortunate incident occurs, that I can place an order to iFixit and follow their repair guides and have it back as-good-as new in no time.
Buy the magnetic mat. The anti-static tray is also great to have for a place to put larger pieces that you don't want on the mat. Read through the repair guide a couple times to be familiar then take your time and work step-by-step and you will be successful.

Replaced the hard drive in an iMac - tried to upgrade to Yosemite and received the error message that there were some SMART problems with the drive and to replace it - tech tried but had problems with fan - got the number of correct HD from WD and bought from Amazon and installed myself.
Easy as pie.
Downloaded Yosemite via Internet - worked fine and then would not reboot - am still working on it - understand that there may be a problem with programs starting up on the login - many are having problems with glitches with Yosemite - might want to hold off until Apple perfects Yosemite

The volume up bottom on the phone wasn't working. These parts and 3 hours and it was as good as new, except for one thing.
Replair went smoothly. Sorted screws on old hard drive magnets. Took 1 hour to get apart. 1 1/2 to get it back together. Everything worked except for one thing. The silent button wouldn't work after the repair. It kept falling out into the phone because of a missing stopper or something. I was able to cram a piece of a rubber band in there. That fixed it. Everything else went smoothly.
Keep track of your screws and keep them sorted. Don't lose rubber stoppers.

MacBook Pro (2010) is not booting properly, usually takes a while to boot if it does...
It was hard to determine what the problem was on the Macbook and why it was not booting, at first I was not sure if it was software related or hardware. I researched online for troubleshooting and tried the basic steps but that did not find the problem. I also opened up the computer to see if anything got burned out on the logic board and hard drive etc. There was no indication of a hardware burning out. I gave it another go and decided to wait for the computer to boot, I heard the hard drive moving and the computer fan going but there was no image on the screen, about 45 minutes later I heard the Macbook Chime and finally loaded the screen. The time was inconsistent but I decided not to waste time and check the Disk Utility, everything checked out fine so that didn't help either. After that every time I tried to boot the computer it would just "crash" and I thought maybe the hard drive is giving up. There was not enough space in the first place and I backed up all the information when I could so that I didn't lose anything. I wiped out the hard drive in hopes of reviving it and it wouldn't work anymore. I then purchased another hard drive and a battery before the production of those hardwares became discontinued. After attaching the new hard drive I was able to install a new copy of the operating system and that was the end of the booting problem. If that was not the issue I would have an extra hard by using an external case and then purchase a logic board which is also quite expensive so I think I would have not bothered to repair the old Macbook pro.
Back up your data time to time, us the right tools to take apart complicated and compact devices, purchase the recommended item part and do lots of research before and during the repair. "Measure twice, cut once", that wisdom can be applied to many things.
