This teardown is not a repair guide. To repair your Vivosun VS1000 LED Grow Light, use our service manual.

    • The ballast is the central device that has the dimming control and power input outlet for the VS1000 Grow Light. These are the instructions to remove the ballast from the rest of the LED panel.

    • First unplug the VS1000 from any power source. Turn the light onto its back, such that the LED faces upwards.

    • Using a 2.5mm Metric Hex key, unscrew the four (4) central screws (circled in blue on the diagram). There is no need to remove the other four perimeter screws.

  2. Teardown Vivosun VS1000 LED Grow Light Ballast, Pry Ballast: step 2, image 1 of 3 Teardown Vivosun VS1000 LED Grow Light Ballast, Pry Ballast: step 2, image 2 of 3 Teardown Vivosun VS1000 LED Grow Light Ballast, Pry Ballast: step 2, image 3 of 3
    • Turn the light around so that the ballast is facing up.

    • Using a thin blade putty knife and a flat head screw driver, pry under the ballast. The ballast is now only held onto the LED panel with double sided tape.

    • Avoid shoving the putty knife/screw driver under the middle of the ballast (marked red in the picture). There are alignment nubs there that can get damaged.

  3. Teardown Vivosun VS1000 LED Grow Light Ballast, Reassembly: step 3, image 1 of 2 Teardown Vivosun VS1000 LED Grow Light Ballast, Reassembly: step 3, image 2 of 2
    • When reassembling, you can optionally remove the existing double sided tape and reapply fresh double sided tape. I didn't find it was necessary.

    • When putting the ballast back onto the LED panel, be aware of the middle two alignment pins. Also take note that once assembled, the Logo on the ballast is in the same orientation as the Logo on the LED.

    • Reinsert the 4 screws from the LED panel side and tighten.
