Introduction

This wireless router stopped working, so I wanted to take a look at it's innards.

This teardown is not a repair guide. To repair your Linksys BEFW11S4, use our service manual.

Image 1/3: Remove nuts and washers around antenna connectors. Image 2/3: Push in antenna connectors. Image 3/3: Push in antenna connectors.
  • Remove antennas.

  • Remove nuts and washers around antenna connectors.

  • Push in antenna connectors.

Image 1/3: Unscrew the screws. Image 2/3: Unscrew the screws. Image 3/3: Unscrew the screws.
  • Remove feet (with flat-head screwdriver, fingernails, etc).

  • Unscrew the screws.

Image 1/2: Slide and pull up bottom. (Make sure the antenna connectors get through.) Image 2/2: Slide and pull up bottom. (Make sure the antenna connectors get through.)
  • Pull apart blue front from black back with a LOT of force.

  • Slide and pull up bottom. (Make sure the antenna connectors get through.)

  • Twist and pull out antenna connector feeds.

Image 1/3: Unscrew the motherboard from the bottom. Image 2/3: Push the motherboard forward (as in this picture) to unlatch it from the bottom. Image 3/3: Push the motherboard forward (as in this picture) to unlatch it from the bottom.
  • Pull up RF shield from motherboard.

  • Unscrew the motherboard from the bottom.

  • Push the motherboard forward (as in this picture) to unlatch it from the bottom.

Image 1/2: Push the card forward to deattach the pins. Image 2/2: Remove the card from the metal holdster.
  • Some people have a card where you have to unscrew it. If that is your case, do that. The instructions below is for my type of router.

  • Push the card forward to deattach the pins.

Thank you. I accomplished this task. Except my antenna wires were soldered to the board.
