Teardown

What you need

This teardown is not a repair guide. To repair your First alert smoke and carbon monoxide alarm, use our service manual.

Step 1 Step 1.

The First Alert Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm. There when you need it, also there when you don't need it and the batteries are low.

Step 2 Step 2

You're going to want to get a flat head screwdriver and pry open the clip on the inside to get to the inner part of the alarm.

Step 3 Step 3.

After the last step you can now see the inside.

Step 4 Step 4.

Now what you should do is pop a small screwdriver into the rivet hole to unlock the battery holder.

Step 5 Final Step.

Now with the the battery back area being popped out you can safely take out the ringer and the mother board of the smoke detector.
Electricity works in a smoke detector by detecting smoke via a air filtration tank and when it detects the smoke it send a electric signal to a air horn to beep every 3-5 seconds.
