iPhone 4 and the last crusade

iPhone 4 Rear Panel Replacement

iPhone 4 Rear Panel Replacement

2 - 5 minutes

Easy

My Problem

Many times had I dropped my iPhone with extreme luck until that fastuous day when the impact with the floor made the rear glass panel crack in dozens of pieces.

Besides, for some reason the camera glass was blurry and couldn't take proper pictures anymore.

In addition, the home button wasn't working properly.

My Fix

Replacing the rear glass panel is very easy, but I decided to go further so I wanted to remove the home button and clean the connection, which meant completely dismantling of the iPhone.

I tried to follow the guides very carefully and be extremely meticuluous, placing the removed components in a particular order and keeping the working zone in order and free of not needed tools.

In the end, the process was a success, but there were a couple of tricky moments.

It took me around 2 hours to complete the whole process and after it succeeded I concluded that if it went well it was due to my previous experience with electronic devices and circuits.

I would not recommend a non-expert to dismantle the iPhone and put everything back.

In my case, the trickiest part was the step of the home button ribbon cable retainer. Actually I broke the tiny lever which holds the connection. Luckily, I could connect the parts back.

My Advice

Replacing the rear panel is ok, for sure you can do it.

If you want to replace or clean the home button, try to find an old iPhone first, to practice and to get familiar with all the screws, connectors and components.
