Ressurected 10 yr old XBox 360!

My Problem

Red Ring of Death started appearing the past few weeks as my son and I were playing it quite more often than I have been for awhile.

My Fix

I ordered the RROD kit and followed the instructions. Make sure you follow them step-by-step exactly as detailed. It's a super guide. Doing this will ensure you the best possible results.

My Advice

I skipped the step of using a heat gun/hair dryer as I was convinced the heat sinks would solve the problem. Unfortunately I put the whole thing back together and found out the hard way as I still received the RRoD :-(

I cracked the thing back open (much quicker this time since I just went through it) and used a hair dryer in place of the heat gun following the section in the guide. Put it back together and crossed my fingers. Sure enough, that worked!

So my advice is I HIGHLY recommend completing this step as you already have the motherboard open the first time. Reflowing the motherboard can't hurt and in my case it was the issue!
