My Problem

I ordered the frictionless ratchet because these days I repair almost to refurb. standard on equipment that I want to fix. I also thought the iFixit team might be interested in my solution to adapt a podpower trainer to accept any Ironpower gyro.

My Fix

As I think that the frictionless ratchet is indispensable for unscrewing cpu's, gpu's, motherboards etc. along with my 54-bit driver kit.

The fix for the podpower trainer involves nothing more than an extra trainer, and an 8mm o/d piece of silicone tubing.

My Advice

When I am repairing, I want what I need when I want it, and iFixit provides know how and essential tools/equipment.

When I am doing some contra-centric gyro training, (as I call it), I don't see why I can't use Ironpower gyros in my trainer. Although I managed to successfully adapt the trainer to accept 350Hz NSD and any Ironpower, due to an accident that I had with a ladder, I had to discontinue using this arrangement, and revert to 250Hz NSD, due to a twisted ankle that caused me pain for months. I would not have recovered from this injury to the extent that I have without this adaptation of the trainer. The moulding that retains the (standard) 250Hz NSD gyro must be precisely aligned, or the gyro will fall out of the trainer, unlike using two straps and a piece of bubble wrap (or similar). I always wanted to revert to 250Hz in the trainer, as technique is everything. I think that I will be using metal gyros with both hands and both feet within 1-2000 hours of training!
