Little old 3GS made new

45 minutes - 2 hours

Difficult

My Problem

I always keep my phone in my shorts pocket while playing tennis, as I can hit it with the butt of the racket to make a “let” sound. (Kidding, I use my kneecap for that.) While stretching for a shot, it launched and hit the court. Crosscourt passing shot was a winner, but my screen was smashed to bits.

My Fix

It was pretty easy and took about 45 minutes. (5 to take the phone apart, 30 to clean all the broken glass off the frame, 5 to put it back together, 5 more to show it off.) The instructions and video were very helpful, but I could have used some close ups of cable routing. I’d also like to request house calls from the pretty lady in the video. Oops!

My Advice

I’m so lucky it was on sale with tools for $15! I love ifixit—I’ve done other repairs with your stuff for friends and family, but this was the first for myself.
