MacBook Pro 15" Core 2 Duo Models A1226 and A1260 Right Fan Replacement

20 - 30 minutes

Moderate

My Problem

Way to noisy!

My Fix

Googled around and found iFixit. Ordered the part. Nice website for finding the correct part. Looked at the repair guides.

The repair was uneventful. It was nice having the before pictures to see how that funky fan power connecter went together. I also blew out some dirt that had accumulated.

My Advice

1. Have some canned air ready to blow out the dirt.

2. Have some good screwdrivers.

3. take your time.

4. take photos along the way, they help

5. I use an egg carton for my screws

6. I marked the old fan with a sharpie, so I would not mix up the two identical fans

7. I also used a bit of double stick adhesive to re-stick the black tape thing.
