Very difficult

My Problem

Aug. 2013, Start up computer one fine morning to find ¼ of the display screen non-functioning. Local Apple dealer said computer is to old, not repairable, wanted to sell me a new laptop to a tune of $2500.00. As much as I'd like a new MBP, I really couldn't afford the new computer and the added expense of a new upgraded software pac's I'd need to get. Thank God I found IFIXIT! Step by Step instructions! Reasonable prices! Quick Service! I received my new LCD panel in a matter of 3 days, started on repair at 7:30 PM, following the instructions, taping the removed micro screws to each step page as I disassembled my laptop. By 10 Pm, my MBP was all reassembled! Turned MBP on with high anticipation! Praying all went well. Yeah Ha! The whole screen came to life! No dead zones! $250 for new , not used, LCD panel, $10.00 for micro screw drivers, $100.00 for a new spare battery ( just for the heck of it). Total cost $365.00, plus a couple of hours working ay my dining room table!

Plus the satisfaction when you figure my local Apple dealer/ Service center said it couldn't be done! IFIXIT save me beaucoup money! Thanks IFIXIT!

My Fix

Repair went just as expected! Followed the step by step instructions, used a heat gun on low setting to soften glue holding the old LCD panel to the upper trim. Instructions where awesome! wish I had taken pictures as I went along. New LCD panel works great. I have a fully functional screen once again!

My Advice

Print out instructions. Tape micro screws to each step as you follow along. Take your time! Buy a Spudger. I forgot the Spudger, but had a similar tool to use as a replacement. I've always been good at fixing anything made by "man". I'm used to taking things apart, to see how they "tick".
