My Problem
Optical drive was going out, only reading discs half the time.

Very smoothly, much easier than I had anticipated.
My Advice
Everything is pretty straightforward once you get the outer case off and start digging around inside. Just make sure you keep track of all the parts and be very careful when removing the wifi antennas. The clips that hold them in seem very flimsy, apparently snapping one by mistake would result in having to replace then internal frame as well.
