My Problem

1. Cost issue: It is too expensive to replace the entire bottom shell of a branded machine, and the actual damage is only a local area near the hinge.

2. Environmental considerations: 30% of electronic waste comes from "structural damage" that can be repaired.

My Fix

I referred to the "Notebook shell structural repair" guide on the Tengzhong (https://tengzhongtec.com/) website, and the blog on the website also has detailed solutions.

1. Test model: HP EliteBook 840

2. Time: 15 minutes/unit

3. Durability test: Pass 5,000 opening and closing cycles

My Advice

Make protective preparations in advance, such as sticking aramid fiber tape on the hinge position, which can prevent 80% of breaks.

If you need to do high-volume repairs, look for a supplier that uses UV-cured epoxy, which can be 300% more efficient.
