My Problem

after travelling cross country with my macbook in a backpack, i noticed one of the rubber feet had come off. always confident in my ability to fix things, i figured id order a new set of feet and, well, no big deal. i grabbed an xacto knife and started removing what was left of the foot still stuck to the case, particularly the stubborn center which seemed to refuse to be dislodged. after a few seconds of digging, i figured id give up and wait for the new set to arrive to see exactly what actually needed to be removed. the next morning, i returned to use my macbook and the screen was dead. an hour later after various restart attempts and determining that i could use an external monitor, i opened up the back and discovered what id done... the lvds cable is positioned directly below the rubber foot and appears through the hole in the case to be part of the foot still stuck on... and yes, i had attempted to excavate my video cable with a razor knife. needless to say, "ifixit to the rescue". i viewed the guide, decided id give the repair a try, ordered a cable from you and i now have a working macbook. the repair was moderately difficult in that i went the extra step in removing the glass to save the lcd and just swap out the cable, but with patience and focus (and an ice cube tray to hold the screws and parts from each step) i was able to get it done. lesson learned... dont dig out the back left foot on a mid 2010 mbp with a razor knife. thanks for always being there for me since the early days of my mac life.
