Adhesive Frustration while replacing the battery in my iPhone 6

My Problem

The phone had reached the point where it was practically unusable. I was lucky to get more than a few hours of use before it shut down. I couldn't go anywhere without an external battery pack. When I launched the settings and checked the battery health, Apple's app indicated that the battery had 85% of its original capacity - I didn't believe it. 45% was more likely.

My Fix

The repair was straight forward except for the battery adhesive, old and new. Both of the old adhesive strips broke underneath the battery so I resorted to the heat gun and dental floss method. I could not get the battery out without bending it and after removing it I placed it on top of a large flowerpot full of dirt in case it caught fire. When I installed the new strips one of the strips folded over on itself at the flat end, and I almost destroyed it trying to pull it apart.

My Advice

I recommend:

1) Buying the iOpener heating pad to better heat the adhesive attached to the rear panel, The cards in this kit would also have been helpful.

2) Buying extra adhesive strips in case one folds over on itself, falls on the carpet, etc.
