My Problem

Phone would shut down within 90% of charged battery. I had carried an external battery pack until I ended up buying a Samsung S8 (which now has it's own issue).

My Fix

After figuring out how to remove plastic and glass.... Heat gun, hobby knife and guitar pick. Removed screws and then used hobby knife near USB C port to get enough space for guitar pick. Using a credit card type plastic spreader tool going around outside of case until it came off. Next removed cables then used a spudger to pry battery from its space. Place new battery and reverse process.

My Advice

Actually used a different guide, that used a suction cup similar to tool in ifixit.com Pro Tool kit.
