My Problem

Old Battery with no life

My Fix

Took about 1.5 hours. About an hour to disassemble and 30mins to reassemble. I went slow and kept all of the screws organized - I could probably repeat in half the time. I used the occasion to clean out some dust and dirt. Certainly easier then replacing most phone screens and easier than most iFixit repair guides that are listed as difficult. I used the iFixit kit with no issues. You could probably make your own and perhaps use acetone to unglue the battery. However the kit was very easy. Their solvent worked well and I only needed about 5 ml. The syringe the provide allows you to put in a few drops at a time. The plastic credit card scrapers were very convenient to get under the old battery without damaging it.

My Advice

One of the retaining flap on the fan ZIF socket came off but went back on. Be gentle with these. Check to make sure all of the cables are out from under the logic board before you secure it down and make sure everything is reconnected before closing up.
