My Problem
The customer smashed the screen on the iphone into small glass shards. The battery was also experiencing issues holding a charge.
My Fix
I purchased a new front screen and battery from ifixit and replaced both. The repair took less than 10 minutes. Approx 5 to tear down and 5 to install new parts.
My Advice
Work on a light colored surface so that you do not misplace the extremely tiny screws or use a magnetic mat to keep everything in place. Pay attention to the battery before attempting to reinstall the screen. If the battery has gone bad, it will be distended and thicker than a battery in good condition. This distention of the battery will not allow the screen to sit flat in the device and if you press too hard, you will run the risk of shattering your new screen. Pay close attention to the process of removing the home button. You need to be gentle but firm with the removal. Do not make any sudden or quick movements when removing the button to avoid tearing of the membrane.
