Remove stripped screw

Thomas Treat -

My Problem

I stripped one of the tiny screws inside the DVD bay of an HP Envy laptop while trying to remove the bottom cover and it's 13 billion screws. Ultimately I was just trying to get in to unplug the speakers from the motherboard as they were generating a crazy hiss and static every time a sound was played and during reboot.

My Fix

I used the iFixit Screw Extractor Set to remove the stripped screw and was easily able to unplug the speakers.

My Advice

1) Screw extractor set worked GREAT

2) Use the right sized screw drivers to avoid stripping screws, although I'm pretty sure this screw was going to strip no matter what! (Why does HP need to lock down their laptops with so many screws?)
