My Problem
The battery was quite old and the price was right.
My Fix
Had an initial *very*scary moment when opening the phone. The amount of upward force required to open a crack between the display and the back was, well, also enough to have the display snap way too far open when all of the bottom clips released at once. Pulled the touch sensor connector and its cover thing off—figured I'd just wrecked it. But no, I finished the repair and the touch sensor was still operational so I got very very lucky. Because you can't really see well inside the phone it's difficult to know for sure that the little metal clip that goes over the touch sensor's connector on the logic board is installed properly, I'm still a little worried!
My Advice
Some YouTube videos show the initial opening being assisted with a very thin metal pry tool instead of the suction cup—this is a good idea and IF such a pry tool was included in the repair kit it might save others from my near disaster.
