9yo and I replaced a MacBook Air 11" Late 2010 battery together

My Problem

Our teenage daughter's MacBook Air would only work when plugged in. Battery wouldn't charge, and laptop wouldn't run on battery.

My Fix

The repair was fast and fun. After reading the iFixit guide, I prepared by purchasing the replacement battery and tools. Once everything arrived, my 9-year-old son and I worked on the repair together. Everything went smoothly, and he really enjoyed working on the repair.

My Advice

I read in the comments on the guide that someone had to really bend the battery connector on the new battery to connect it to the logic board. That was good to know, because I also had to bend it to get it to fit. I also read on another guide that someone asked about the plastic pieces of tape on the new battery. I wouldn't have known to remove them without the response to that question on the iFixit guide.
