MacBook Pro 15" Core 2 Duo Models A1226 and A1260 Keyboard Replacement

My Problem

I had an old 2007 15" MacBook Pro that I quit using after I spilled wine in they keyboard for the second time (I upgraded to a 13" MacBook Air), and so it was sitting around gathering dust when a friend mentioned iFixit. After poking around through the site, I realized I could turn the old 15" into a nice little backup machine to travel with if need be. I also saw that I could replace the internal ATA 128GB drive with a 1TB SSD, so I thought, why not? Bought the SSD through iFixit along with a set of tools, and the keyboard off eBay, and they arrived within a day of each other.

My Fix

I have to say, much as the last time I attempted repair work on a Mac was about a decade ago, on an old eggshell iMac, this was much easier than I expected, especially with the iFixit step-by-step instructions. I laid everything out in front of me, got out my extra-strong readers (57-year-old eyes need all the help they can get) and went slowly and determinedly through the steps, and it was a piece of cake!

My Advice

Have a lot of space to work, and turn on all your lights or work in a bright room, as some parts of the disassembly/assembly, specifically the flaps on top of the keyboard cable ribbon, are VERY small and hard to see.
