How to replace your iPhone 5 battery

30 minutes

Easy

My Problem

Old phone, old battery.

My Fix

Straightforward. Screws are pretty small. But only 7 of them total. I used the tweezers to put them in place when putting everything back together. They didn't sit quite right on the magnetic bit.

My Advice

Using the single suction cup, place the phone flat on the table, glass up. Use your thumb and ring finger to hold the phone down and your index to pull up on the suction up. Once you get your pry tool in there you can pop the top loose pretty easily. It snaps in kind of like a lid.

Prying out the battery was a bit nerve wracking as I was worried about bending or breaking it. Use the pry tool and go slow, prying in the areas they tell you to. You'll hear the battery peeling away from the adhesive. Pry a little here, a little there, listening for that peeling sound, and it will come out easy peasy.

Seating the replacement battery connection was a little tricky; just had to get the connector in the right spot. Took and extra minute or two.
