My battery was dying
My Fix
Started good. But then the adhesive strips broke off and I had to use the “heat and scrape” method to get the old battery out. As I was carefully doing that, the battery began to bend and the suddenly exploded in to flames in my office. I was able to get the bottom half of the phone outside and flipped the exploded battery in to a snowbank. After another hour of careful cleanup, I put the new battery in and it amazingly worked!
But, you really need to warn people about bending the battery on extraction. The toxic fumes and flames in my house were pretty scary.
