MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Late 2013 Battery Replacement

2 hours

Difficult

My Problem

A fellow employee had a half gallon of ice cream melt on top of her MacBook Pro. I was able to clean out all sticky residue off logic board, SSD, and battery but the battery controller board was shorted out. iFixIt to the rescue!

My Fix

It went well. I ended up using heat (sock filled with rice) instead of the chemical adhesive remover. That really was the toughest part. Just took patience.

My Advice

Don't let your spouse forget to get bring ice cream from the trunk to the freezer on a warm Texas night.

Do you have more photos? I would like to see the process of cleaning it up.

This has nothing to do with the repair, but I’m left wondering how one allows a bucket of ice cream to melt on their laptop…
