My Problem
It's more cost effective to renovate a working laptop than to buy another.
My Fix
Well.
My Advice
Yes. I think the guide would benefit from some close-ups of the connector sockets. I've worked with ZIF components, so I know what to look for. Some of the sockets on the board are a little difficult to operate and a close-up would help to make sure people don't break the delicate mechanisms.
I used denatured alcohol instead of the provided acetone mixture. Perhaps it took longer. I find that the alcohol is much less like to damage plastics.
The plastic card was, by far, the most helpful tool. That and patience.
The repair took quite a bit longer than the estimate for two reasons. First, I think that the alcohol was probably slower than the acetone. That was my choice. Second, the using the parts tray that is the top of an iFixit driver case is tempting...except when it gets bumped and all of the screws become jumbled. I think that the hobby boxes are less likely to scramble things.
