Avoid this Tool for iPads

J Cole -

My Problem

Headphone jack broken off inside of headphone port.

My Fix

This tool was the opposite of helpful. The headphone port opening on the iPad Air is slightly too small so the tool begins to narrow as you insert it into the headphone port. It is then too small to envelope the headphone jack. I tried to follow the guide that came with it and very lightly tapped on the tool.

This caused the headphone port to come loose inside of the iPad and helped the headphone jack to get stuck even further down into the headphone port.

My Advice

Do not buy this. I bought two, wasting $50.

"This tool comes with no guarantees implied or expressed and should be considered a single-use tool. All sales are final and no returns will be allowed." This statement should have clued me in to the fact that this tool is a joke.

I will continue to fix this issue how I always have - removing the glass and headphone port and poking the piece of broken headphone jack out from the back with a needle.
