My Advice
the initial upgrade took about 30 minutes, but the time to create a back up and restore takes more time. be patient backing up an os, it could take as much as 5 hours too, just depends on what your set up. when the new drive is installed and it's time to power up go to disk utility and erase the new drive before restoring the os with your back up. this process took about 90 minutes. so, in reality this took me 6 total hours. it was worth the time and effort.
