As always the adhesive strips broke right away so I was faced with an alternate removal approach.
My Advice
I’ve done this repair quite a few times on various models of iPhone. I’ve found that using a paper based playing card (deuces work best, ha ha) to slip under the battery and into the adhesive will let the adhesive grab just enough to pull it out and catch the adhesive with a tweazers and then with your fingers and it will come out from the side easily.
