Easy

My Problem

The computer would no longer boot and came up with a folder with a question mark in it.

My Fix

The repair was not hard, but a little tedious getting the ribbon cable in place and making the 90 degree bends and sticking it to the bottom of the hard drive area. It was difficult to place the hard drive back in without crushing the ribbon cable and took slightly pushing it away from the hard drive while at the same time sliding the hard drive into the front bracket. The only problem is that the front white LED no longer "breathes" when the computer is asleep as it used to. but it works well. There seems to be a slight difference in the length of the wire, but it will fit. I reused the rubber grommets from the original Apple front bracket, since they have plastic inserts and are of higher quality. (they just slide off)

My Advice

Be very careful when making the 90 degree bends and when sticking the wire to the bottom. Work your way from back to front, gently pushing the wire around the 90 degree bends first and then work your finger to the front.
