My Problem

Screen cracked by closing lid on charge cord and cat stepped on it.

My Fix

My daughter wanted to do her own repair and I helped a little. The Airport card cables gave us a little trouble, but using a magnifying glass helped see that the connectors needed to be perfectly aligned to ensure fit. Bending the cables to where they needed to be helped.

The hinge was a little tricky, having to hold the two pieces and dislodge the hinge pins from the cover on the base.

My Advice

Bend the cables to shape and test fitment before making an attempt to actually connect. Make sure the hinges on the new screen are at the "110 degree" angle before attempting to attach, use a torx tool or metal object to move them, being careful not to touch the screen in doing so.

Use a magnet to hold all your screws in a bowl and place a magnet on your torx driver to hold the screw on the tool when reinserting and assembling (if your torx driver isn't magnetized already).
