A friend of mine dropped her macbook pro while it was charging and the magnet jack broke. She took it to an apple store to see about repairs, but out of warranty she was quoted 500$+ to repair it. She has 4 kids and is a single mom she could not afford the repairs or a new laptop, since I have experience repairing computers I offered to help her out. I found Ifixit in the process of looking for the part i needed to fix it. I normally would have gone with ebay or whatever was cheapest but I noticed Ifixit had a guide including pictures and diagrams and a very professional feel to it, so I decided to give them a shot. I ordered the part we needed for about 100$
Ifixit.com came through with my part in a few days, I unboxed the part honestly expecting to find the part as I always do from average sellers, in an over sized box with a few packing peanuts and absolutely no paperwork with it LOL but to my surprise it was sealed in an anti-static bag and perfectly protected between 2 foam pads, along with a copy of my invoice, a card with Ifixit"s web address and some helpful tips to get started, amazing. So anyway I followed the guide on ifixit.com (Im a PC Guy so I was a bit nervous repairing a 2500$ mac) I got the broken part out and the new part installed then reassembled everything and fired her up. Success!! My friend was very very happy and she didn't have to take out a second mortgage to get it fixed.
