My Problem
The trackpad was protruding about 1/8" on the left hand side of the Macbook. Easy enough to replace the retaining clip. As soon as I popped the back off, the battery was obviously toast.
My Fix
First off, you guys made it really easy to swap out the parts (I had ordered a new trackpad w/ mounting hardware). Battery was swapped in 10 minutes. As far as the trackpad, I was able to coax it back into position. Not having a bulge in the battery helps.
My Advice
Take that machine apart even when your buddy says "It just needs a new trackpad".
