My Problem

When my macbook turned on, it had a folder flashing symbol. After rebooting the computer with 'command+R' buttons to reinstall OS, it didn't seem to find the Macintosh HD. After a few minutes of research, the best guess was that the SATA cable(hard drive cable) was loose. Either that or my hard drive isn't functioning. I bet my chance on the loose cable and thankfully, that was the problem; easy fix.

My Fix

My macbook was able to recognize the Macintosh HD and I managed to reinstall OS for a fix. Everything worked out well.

My Advice

I've heard that dealing with the yellow plastic can be a pain, so I suggest that you buy the bracket with the hard drive cable. That way, you don't have to worry about taking off the yellow plastic and putting it on the new cable. The bracket is already attached to the ifixit hard drive cable, making the whole process go much faster.
