My Problem
My wife, who is usually brilliant, but failed to backup her iPhone 5s for 7 months, was in an absolute frenzy when her battery suddenly bit the dust. She is constantly on the phone for her business, so she had to get a new phone, but she still needed to recover data from the dead phone. I previously had used iFixit to replace the hard drive in her MacBook, so I ordered the iPhone battery kit in hopes I could recover her data. I had never been into a phone before, but after carefully studying the steps and viewing a video, I proceeded carefully and had little difficulty. The screws are TINY so be sure to have a clean, well lit area for your work space. iFixit offers a magnetic pad to hang onto loose bits. I reccommend using it. After replacing the battery, the phone booted up and was finally backed up.
