My Problem
I've been wanting to repair broken electronics for a while now. I have always loves tearing them down and figuring out how they work. My ps3 had been sitting in a box for two years after the YLOD showed up and i figured it couldn't hurt to at least give the repair a shot.
My Fix
It was time consuming but fun. I was a little skeptical at first. I didn't think it would work at all because of the time it had been in a box in the bottom of my closet. But after carefully taking it apart, taking lot's of pictures to ensure that I put it back together properly, and giving myself very little credit, it turned on as if no time had passed. I stared at it with disbelief, unsure if I was actually see what was happening two feet in front of me. It's safe to say I'm grateful for ifixit and all of their help.
My Advice
Take it slowly, document your steps, take pictures of the system with each part you remove, and don't get your hopes up. If it doesn't work, oh well. It's only a video game.
