How to replace your iPhone 5 battery

1 hour

Moderate

My Problem

The battery had faded, and was requiring charging 2, even 3 times a day!

My Fix

The repair was not easy -and it took me a while (plenty of fretting, and worrying whether I'd done it right). But I was relieved when the phone snapped back together again, and powered up beautifully...

My Advice

The hardest part of replacing the battery, is getting the old battery out. This is because it is glued in. I used a heat pack (the kind you use for stiff muscles) and heated it up in the microwave. Once it was nice and hot, I placed the iPhone (and the coffee mug that I rubber banded to the touch screen to keep the unit in one piece) on top of the heating pad and waited for about 8 minutes, until the iPhone case felt warm from the heat. Then I pried the battery up from the outer edge and it came out easily.
