Tricky but possible

Rolf Bertram -

My Problem

Battery dead

My Fix

Took about an hour.

My Advice

Take a razor blade to go between case and bezel at long edge. Lift enough to insert a plastic tool. Carefully slide plastic tool towards lower edge (on button), very slowly. This, in my case, slowly lifted the double sided tape that held my iPod Touch 5 together. Put all the screws with tape on a photo of the open device, so you know which one goes where. They look alike, but some are larger diameter. Battery soldering goes through a contact foil, which works best by putting solder and flux on the circuit board contacts and the battery foil contacts first. Putting everything back together is quick, provided you don't mix large and small diameter screws. The double sided tape still worked.
