My Problem
My wife's iPhone 5 is her connection to the outside world. When the battery gave its notice, we were forced to chose a $700+ new phone or a $34.95 replacement battery. We chose the battery.
My Fix
The iPhone products have a certain "it's magic in there, it's not for you to tinker with" feel to them. I am handy, but certainly not a magician. The provided video instructions were spot on and the repair went without a hitch.
My Advice
Unless you have done this before, I suggest you purchase the battery replacement kit. The proprietary Apple screws will be unnecessarily difficult to remove and reinstall if you don't. Also the non-conductive pry tool is effective and it is the tool used in the instructional video. Remember you are saving a phone worth hundreds of dollars. It is money well spent.
