My Problem

Two iPhone 5 with battery problems. One was no longer maintaining the charge,—going from ~60% to off in the blink of an eye; the other had an inflated battery that was pushing the screen up. Solution: replacing both batteries.

My Fix

By and large, the repair went as expected.

I replaced two iPhone 5 batteries. The first one took me about one hour, the second less than 30 minutes. A dexterous person should be able to get it done in around 10' to 15'. The iFixit guide was clear and easy to follow. The Phillips screw driver that came with the kit did not agree with the screws in the the iPhones. Cannot tell whether it was a problem with the kit or with the iPhones. Fortunately, I had a screwdriver that fit the bill. Contrary to what the guide said, these screws had all the same head size. All in all, painless, and a very good solution (the screwdriver disagreement could have turned out much worse).

My Advice

The Phillips screwdriver is a potential issue!
