Replaced Late 2008 Macbook unibody trackpad easily!

My Problem
While replacing the hard drive, I think I set off a temperature sensor related to the trackpad that stopped physical clicks from working by trying to remove a stripped screw with a soldering iron.
My Fix
Repair was easy. Some screws were different from those described in the guide (metric sizes vs non-metric), but I was able to identify them out easily. I ended up not replacing with the new screws that came with the replacement trackpad, and just using the old ones.
My Advice
When taking the trackpad out, the laptop will be bottom-up. The trackpad falls through in the direction of the screen, which is otherwise unprotected. Don't let it scratch your screen -- I had a close call. It might be wise to stick some paper or cloth between screen and keyboard during this stage.
