My Problem

When my Nexus 7 would no longer take a charge, and the back light would not even come on when plugged in, I did some research and found that the Nexus 7 was famous for their defective I/O assembly. After an Internet search and finding this website, I thought, "What could it hurt to try it?"

My Fix

I did it and I was absolutely blown away by how easy the repair was. The step by step photos were excellent so that even a noob could follow it. After replacing the I/O Assembly, I had a back light when the tablet was plugged in, so I knew I was on the right track. HOWEVER, I could not get anything else to happen. Ifixit guides to the rescue again. After reading more, I rebooted the system and it is now working beautifully!

My Advice

It might be helpful to note on the I/O Assembly tutorial, that if the battery is completely discharged (dead in the water), the tablet will need to be rebooted. A link to that process or the instructions would save some time in trying to figure out where to go next.
