My Problem

Unfortunately, my iPad fell on the garage floor and the glass broke.

My Fix

It took me about 2 hours to get all the glass off. The video depicted an ideal situation where the glass is not shattered. I used a small vacuum to help manage all the glass. Safety glasses are a must, due to the glass breaking into smaller pieces and flying everywhere. The iFixit heating pad did not work well and I needed to use a heat gun which I purchased for $10. Getting all the glass off was the most difficult part.

My Advice

Buy a heat gun; it will loosen up the adhesive easier. One area the iFixit video doesn't identify is what to do if the aluminum case is bent. If you have dropped and broke the glass, chances are you bent at least one of the corners. I had to bend it back into place and file it smooth. Make sure to do this or the glass will not fit. I purchased the full assembly panel. This I recommend if only because the adhesive is included and already attached to the glass. This is a real time saver.
