My Problem
The iPod ended up underneath a couch leg and was bent. The screen was also crushed.
My Fix
After bending the back plate back to normal, I installed the screen and it's a little messy and not completely right due to the backplate being a little messed up still, but it works and stays in for the most part.
My Advice
Make sure you don't accidentally separate the screen from the plastic bezel that it comes with. It can cause a lot of headache and reduce the effectiveness of the glue that keeps them together.
